After celebrating the 40th Anniversary in 2009 the longstanding Kitsilano Summer of Love Festival (formerly known as Hippie Daze) is no longer. Even though the festival was small, it was nicely put together. It will be missed by the locals since it did bring money into the community even if it was just for a weekend.
